Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience
Early Breakfast & Transfer to Park Headquarters
Your day starts early with breakfast at the lodge, followed by a transfer to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) officials. Here, you will be assigned a gorilla family and a guide.
Gorilla Trekking Experience
The trek to find the gorillas can take anywhere between 1 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. The hike involves traversing dense forests, steep slopes, and muddy trails, making it a physically demanding but highly rewarding adventure. Once you find the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat.

Day 3: Optional Activities & Departure
Dian Fossey Tomb Hike (Optional)
For those with extra energy, a morning hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb is an excellent way to learn about the legendary primatologist’s conservation work. The trek takes about 3 to 4 hours and provides scenic views of the Virunga Mountains.
Golden Monkey Trekking (Optional)
Another exciting activity is tracking the golden monkeys, a rare and beautiful primate species found in the park.
Return to Kigali & Departure
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for shopping or lunch in Kigali before heading to the airport for your departure.
